10/21/22 Travis City, MI – Man Steals Rescue One Ambulance From Medical Call – Police Chase And Stop Man – Arrested

A routine medical call in Traverse City turned bizarre Wednesday when an ambulance was stolen.

The Rescue One Ambulance was on a call late Wednesday night, when someone jumped into it and took off.

According to Captain Steven Ball, this hasn’t ever happened during his 20 years on the job.

The man they say stole Rescue One was headed down Seventh Street when Traverse City Police pulled him over.

“I’m not sure of his intent or what’s going to happen of it, but he was just driving it,” Captain Ball said. “No damage was done, nothing was stolen, so we’re not really sure what he was doing.”

The incident might create some policy changes about keeping emergency vehicles running during calls.
