5/18/23 Dorchester County, SC – Ambulance Stolen From Summerville Medical Center – Ambulance Later Located – Suspect Captured

A suspect is accused of stealing an ambulance from Summerville Medical Center the afternoon of May 18.

According to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), the incident began just before 4:30 p.m. Dorchester County EMS off-loaded a patient and while the ambulance (Medic 6) was unattended, the suspect entered it and drove away. The ambulance was located within minutes by the DCSO in the 10500 block of Dorchester Road / Bacon’s Bridge.

Deputies say they located a person while setting up a perimeter. Through their investigation, they determined the person was the suspect responsible for stealing the ambulance. The suspect was taken into custody.

Charges will be forthcoming against the suspect, according to the DCSO. As of May 18, information about the suspect has not been released.
