Man arrested after stealing ambulance from Vanderbilt

A Courtland man is facing felony and other criminal charges after he jumped into an ambulance and led authorities on a high-speed chase.

According to our news partners at the Times Daily, Sheffield Police responded to a report of a stolen ambulance from Helen Keller Hospital at about 6:25 p.m. Thursday.

The suspect later identified as Dylan Terry, led police on a chase along Raleigh Avenue, Montgomery Avenue, Dover Avenue and later onto Cox Boulevard, according to Sheffield Police Capt. Daryl Ivy.

He said it didn’t appear Terry was under the influence of any controlled substances.

Terry was arrested and charged with one count each of theft of property, felony attempt to elude law enforcement, reckless endangerment and misuse of 911 communications.
