An ambulance was recovered just minutes after being stolen from a downtown Louisville hospital Friday night.
Louisville Metro Police Department said a St. Matthews ambulance was stolen from UofL Health – Jewish Hospital around 7:30 p.m.
Police said it was taken while the ambulance crew was inside with a patient.
LMPD surrounded the area, saying the ambulance was found three minutes later on S Jackson Street. It had been abandoned.
Police said whoever stole the ambulance hit a pole, causing minor damage to the vehicle.
There are no suspects, but police are canvassing the area.
LMPD’s First Division is handling the investigation.
