6/19/26 Memphis, TN – Woman Steals LifeCare Ambulance From Methodist North Hospital As EMTs Prepared To Transport A Patient – Ambulance Found Abandoned Near The Suspect’s House – She Left Her Hospital Patient Paperwork In The Ambulance – Easy Arrest

A woman has been charged after Memphis police say she stole an ambulance from Methodist North Hospital earlier this month.

According to the affidavit, 26-year-old Jazaria Dorsey is charged with theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000 in connection with the June 11 incident.

Police said officers responded around 8:35 p.m. to an auto theft call at Methodist North Hospital. Employees with LifeCare Ambulance told investigators they were preparing to transport a patient when they saw a woman get into the ambulance and drive away.

The ambulance was later tracked and recovered in the 3400 block of Summer Avenue.

Investigators say officers found a bag inside the ambulance containing paperwork from Methodist North Hospital with Dorsey’s name on it.

According to the affidavit, ambulance company officials also provided interior surveillance video that allegedly showed a woman with distinctive tattoos on her chest and arms stealing the vehicle. The ambulance was valued at approximately $150,000.

Hospital officials confirmed that Dorsey had been discharged from Methodist North shortly before the theft, according to police.

Investigators also say body camera footage and a booking photo from Dorsey’s arrest in an unrelated incident helped identify her as the suspect seen in the ambulance surveillance video.

Police said the owner of the ambulance company chose to prosecute.

Dorsey was arrested and charged on Friday, June 19 according to jail records.
