A Grande Prairie man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly stole an ambulance in Bonnyville on Friday.
Bonnyville RCMP say they got a call around 7:00 p.m. on May 1 about an ambulance that was stolen from the Bonnyville Healthcare Centre.
Police found the ambulance travelling west along Highway 28 with its lights on soon afterwards. A tire deflation device was successfully used at two separate locations with the help of St Paul and Smoky Lake RCMP to slow the suspect’s getaway.
The suspect did attempt to carry on with deflated tires and was found to be driving erratically into oncoming traffic. A police vehicle then got the ambulance to stop by using a tactical contact move.
The suspect then tried to escape police on foot, but was caught and brought in by RCMP.
