A man has been charged with stealing an ambulance in Antigonish and leading RCMP on a long chase.
On Thursday at about 4:15 p.m., RCMP were called about a stolen ambulance from St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time.
The driver kept going after RCMP attempted to pull him over on Beech Hill Road, proceeding down St. Andrews Street.
The chase was discontinued to avoid causing an accident.

Police tracked the ambulance’s movement into Pictou County, where a spike belt was used to deflate its tires. However, the driver kept going down Highway 104 to New Glasgow, where he eventually pulled over and was arrested.
