6/9/26 Kanawha, WV – Man Steals Lincoln County Ambulance From WVU Hospital – Arrested By South Charleston Police

A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing an ambulance at a Kanawha County hospital.

According to South Charleston Police Captain Andrew Gordon, the incident happened just before noon Tuesday, June 9, at WVU Thomas Hospital.

Gordon says the suspect, identified by South Charleston Police as 40-year-old Holden Stapleton, then allegedly stole the Lincoln County ambulance while first responders were dropping off a patient.

According to SCPD, the ambulance was stopped soon after the incident in the Childress Road area of Route 119 in South Charleston. Gordon says there was no vehicle pursuit and authorities arrested Stapleton without incident.
