A so-far-publicly-unidentified suspect, but one on whom Lower Pottsgrove police said they have already gathered information, allegedly stole an ambulance late Monday afternoon (Aug. 3, 2020) from near Pottstown Hospital and, at about 4:49 p.m., crashed it into the offices of a law firm in the 2000 block of East High Street, officers at the scene reported.

The collision broke a natural gas meter, police said, creating a possibly dangerous leak that first must be turned off and repaired before a closed stretch of East High could be re-opened to general traffic, they added. It is unknown if the suspect, who apparently fled the scene, or anyone else incurred any injuries.

In addition to the ambulance, also damaged during the incident was the building containing offices of the David J. Cohen Law Firm LLC at 2047 E. High (below), on the street’s north side. Responding to the scene were members of Sanatoga and Ringing Hill fire companies and their fire police units, PECO Energy, and Lower Pottsgrove patrol vehicles.
