
Update: A man is facing multiple charges after stealing an ambulance from Sycamore Shoals Hospital Saturday morning, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The driver was identified as Patrick Fults.
A THP trooper was alerted Saturday morning of a stolen ambulance. THP then caught up with the ambulance to attempt a traffic stop.
Fults refused to stop and a pursuit followed, according to THP. A second THP trooper successfully spiked the ambulance tires with spike strips. The ambulance crashed shortly after at mile marker 44, the driver fled on foot. He was taken into custody shortly after.
Fults was charged with auto theft, driving while revoked, reckless driving, improper passing, speeding, felony evading.
Police say an ambulance was stolen from Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton and recovered in Greene County Saturday morning.
The ambulance was taken from the hospital’s emergency room area around 9:50 a.m. while its crew was assisting a patient inside. Shortly after, a call was placed to 911 reporting the theft.
According to police, the Tennessee Highway Patrol located and recovered the stolen ambulance in Greene County. The investigation is ongoing, and further details have not yet been released.
