A Swansea, Massachusetts, ambulance was recovered in Providence, Rhode Island on Sunday after it was stolen during a medical call, the town’s police department said.

The Swansea Ambulance Corps vehicle was reported missing just after midnight Sunday while it was being used during a call, police said.

“The ambulance was later recovered undamaged in Rhode Island with assistance from Rhode Island State Police,” the Swansea Police Department said. “An initial investigation indicates that the ambulance was taken by an elderly male in a state of confusion.”

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Swansea police said it may not press criminal charges against the driver.
