On Thursday, May 8, an individual unlawfully entered a Phelps Health ambulance on the Hospital campus and drove the stolen vehicle eastbound on Interstate 44.

Emergency responders and law enforcement quickly coordinated to ensure public safety. The ambulance was stopped in the St. James area with spike strips. Fortunately, no injuries occurred during the incident to the individual involved, the public or any emergency personnel. Additionally, there was no public property damage.

Phelps Health is fully cooperating with local law enforcement in the investigation and remains committed to providing a safe environment for its patients, staff and community.
