Police are searching for suspects after an ambulance was stolen from a town in Ontario.

The Ontario Provincial Police said they were called to a report of a stolen vehicle from William Street in Colborne shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 17. Colborne is a small community east of Oshawa.

Northumberland Paramedics were on a call in a home, and when they returned, they found their ambulance was gone, OPP said.

The ambulance was found unoccupied a short time later at another location in Colborne, police said.

Police said the OPP Canine Unit assisted officers in a search for the culprits, but no one was found.

The investigation remains ongoing.

“Emergency vehicles are critical public assets, and their misuse directly affects the ability of paramedics to respond to life-threatening situations,” the OPP said. “Incidents like this not only disrupt emergency services but also jeopardize patient care and public safety across the wider community.”

The OPP said that interfering with emergency operations can have serious consequences.

Anyone with information on this incident should contact the Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
